Assessment of knowledge about the hygienic aspects of human-pets interaction

Abstract:

Many species of both bacteria, viruses, protozoa, which inhabit the body of the animal, excreted in the feces, hair and saliva are the source of infection for people outside the circle of cohabitation in the same place. Of knowledge and level of hygiene owners or custodians of animals depends on the ability to transmit so ransient\' micro-flora. The aim of the publication was to present the knowledge of the owners or keepers of hygiene in interactions with animals. The survey on knowledge about the hygienic aspects of human interaction-pet consisted of 52 people - pet owners aged 20 to 41 years the majority of respondents declared that the frequency of hand washing which has no reflection in reality. The study also showed insufficient knowledge of the respondents in terms of the risks of transmission of micro-flora by pet owners to persons outside the circle pet-owner.'

Streszczenie:

Celem badań ankietowych była ocena wiedzy na temat zdrowotnego aspektu interakcji między zwierzętami domowymi, ich właścicielami a otoczeniem. Badania przeprowadzono na liczącej 52 osoby populacji w wieku od 21 do 40 lat. Wyniki ankiety wykazały, że interakcje właścicieli ze zwierzętami są istotnym elementem, mogącym mieć wpływ na zdrowie zarówno ich samych, jak i osób spoza ich otoczenia. Stwierdzono brak dostatecznej wiedzy na temat biologicznych zagrożeń stanowiących ryzyko zdrowotne w interakcjach człowiek – zwierzęta domowe. Istotnym wnioskiem wynikającym z niniejszych badań było stwierdzenie niskiego poziomu wiedzy na temat higienicznych aspektów transmisji biologicznej w relacjach zwierzęta domowe – właściciele.
